belated poem for my thirtieth birthday

November 21, 2008 rossvassilev

by Justin Hyde

now that i

turn around

from this

distance

my thirty years

stacked on top of each other

look like

undifferentiated

clay

however

setting down my beer

and taking a

few steps closer

clearly

it’s a giant

hand

giving me

the

finger.
